25th Sunday of Ordinary Time
This Sunday marks the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
In the Gospel reading (Mark 9:30-37) Jesus’ disciples argue about which one of them would be the greatest in the Kingdom. Jesus challenged them, and us, by saying that those who want to be great must learn to serve others. He told the disciples the greatest should be just like a child, open and trusting. Jesus wanted to emphasise to his disciples the need to not only tell people what to do, but lead by example.
Dear Parents and Carers
Another term has come to an end. We know the students and staff are looking forward to the holidays so they can recharge their batteries and come back refreshed for the final term for 2021. Term 4 brings so many interesting and educational activities. We wish all parents, students and staff a relaxing and healthy two weeks of school holidays. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday 5 October, after the long weekend.
End Of Term Prayer
We thank you Lord, for this term.
For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right; to be witnesses of our faith.
Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others, to be peacemakers in our family.
Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun.
Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.
We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents and a community that cares for us. May we always be conscious of you in our lives.
Amen
The Season of Creation (continues until 4 October)
The Season of Creation, or Creation Time, is marked throughout the Christian world from 1 September to 4 October (Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi) and celebrates the joy of creation as well as encouraging awareness-raising initiatives to protect the natural environment. The theme this year is Restoring Our Common Home. Visit the Season of Creation website.
Dear Parishioners,
As communicated to you (Parish News 14-15 August) Daniel Ang, the Director at the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation in the Archdiocese of Sydney, has been engaged to undergo the review of our Parish Pastoral Council. The steps outlined in this process were publicised the following weekend (21-22 August) also in the Parish News. In order to begin this process and help keep parishioners up to date, Daniel has been sent a substantial amount of documentation. He has recorded a short video, introducing himself and outlining what he hopes to achieve. He has also provided a ‘script’ that he wishes to be shared. The script can be read below or viewed online together with the video HERE. A hard copy of the script is available from the Presbytery Office.
Every blessing as we continue to negotiate these challenging times. Fr Paul
School holidays are often a time students choose to experiment with trendy new haircuts. Please ensure that when your child returns to school for Term 4, that their hairstyles follow school guidelines. Extreme haircuts with shaved parts and hair not tied back from their faces for learning, breach our school’s policy. We look forward to students returning well presented and shoulder length or long fringes being kept off their faces. Hair ties and clips are available in the office for those students who forget to follow the guidelines.
We are so grateful to the Schuch family and Kenny Little from Kenny Little’s Fruit and Veg store for their kind gestures of support for families in need within our school recently. We are constantly reminded of how blessed we are to belong to such a wonderfully generous community.
This week we wished Mrs Eloise Toombs good luck as she began her maternity leave, preparing for the arrival of her new bub early next term. We look forward to welcoming another Toombs baby to the Aggies family and will let you know the result of our betting competition about the gender of her new baby when it arrives.

PBS Focus
This week our focus was on being back at school and code switching ourselves back into learning at school with everyone.
House Cup

We also saw the welcoming back of receiving Dojo’s for following our 4R’s of whole school expectations. Today the Kennedy house students celebrated winning the house cup for the most dojo’s this term with a COVID-19 safe celebration. This included a variety of grade based treats such as a movie, Kahoot trivia and snack bag of goodies.

Today was also very exciting for our students who have received 500 dojo’s for following school expectations. These students were presented with our school 2021 PBS badge to remind them just how proud they can be of being a St Agnes’ student who models our 4R’s of whole school expectations each day.

Congratulations Armani Daley
I rang my nan straight away and she said that she told me to enter it because she knew I was going to win it. I think I'm going to spend my money on a horse (maybe) or I'm going to save it. I would like to thank all the teachers that have taught me, for engaging me in writing and teaching the best ways possible to write. I couldn’t have done it without them.
Shine Update
As Term 3 draws to an end we are unsure at this stage whether any After School programs will be returning in Term 4 due to the NSW Health restrictions.
If restrictions do ease in Term 4, interested students will be offered a permission note and invited to attend class. Students who had paid for classes in Term 3 will be given a credited amount for classes lost.
Dear Families,
Isn’t it great to be back at school this week! No doubt you and your children have enjoyed it.
We are planning the next P&F Meeting for Monday 18 October via Zoom. Further details will be shared after the school holidays. Lock it into your calendars!
Have a wonderful and safe school holiday break.
