NAIDOC Week
Dear Parents and Carers
Farewell Mrs Northey
Yesterday, we farewelled our wonderful Di Northey who was our librarian for 31 years. The entire Aggies community has been blessed to have had Di’s passion and love of both children and literature. As she left the school on Thursday, all of the students created a guard of honour, holding up signs to represent each of the years that Di has been a part of our community. During this time, Di has witnessed many generations being a part of our school. Her memories of key people and events highlight the tradition of our school and how it has grown and changed over the years. Many children were sad to see Mrs Northey leave and we know that she is responsible for building the love of books and literature in so many children during her time here. We sincerely thank her for all that she has done for our school and community. We will be holding a school community farewell when restrictions are eased and families are allowed back on site. Further information will be provided when it is available.
Aggies Meets An Olympian
On Thursday, some of the Primary students were lucky enough to meet Louise Currey, who represented Australia at both the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. The children were lucky enough to see her gold and silver medals and had been preparing some questions for Louise to answer to help us with our learning about the Olympics. We were so grateful to Louise for allowing us to take her medals around to the classes to show the children and we look forward to having her visit again soon.
NAIDOC Celebrations
Today’s celebrations and learning activities to celebrate NAIDOC Week were an amazing experience for all of our students. Sharon Hugo and Jessica Stewart have worked tirelessly to make the day special for all involved. The children participated in prayer as a whole school, then worked in grades for the day as they engaged in enriching learning experiences. We also collected $400 in donations, which will go to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Confirmation candidates and Year 3 had a visit from Father Peter and Deacon Prodencio on Thursday as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Parents and carers will have received updated communication from the Parish regarding the celebrations next week.

With the current COVID-19 situation continuing, we are still at a pause with most sporting events. We are watching events closely and will be ready to spring back into action. Our wonderful students are again showing patience and resilience that is a credit to themselves and their community.
Port Macquarie Rugby Union Gala Day
We have had a huge response to students wanting to participate in the Port Macquarie Primary Schools Rugby Union Gala day. We are hoping to enter two Under 10 teams, and four Under 12 teams on the day! Notes for this will go home shortly. This is open to all interested students in years 3 to 6 and both boys and girls are encouraged to play. No experience is necessary and we will be holding regular training sessions at school. We are hoping to be able to welcome parents back as helpers when COVID-19 restrictions ease.
