13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
(Mark 5: 21 - 24, 35 - 43)
Jesus cured Jairus’ daughter because of Jairus’ faith. If someone we love dies, even though we have prayed for them to get well, this does not mean we did not have enough faith. The Church teaches that while God may choose to bring physical healing to the person who is sick, we cannot count on this. It might be time for that person to go home to God. Sometimes people die for reasons only God understands. There are many stories in the Gospel of Jesus healing people by touching them. Jesus helped them and can help us too. We may not be able to feel Jesus physically touching us, but we can through others, like our parents, who hold us when we feel sick, our doctors and nurses who touch us to find out where we feel pain. We can give people who are sick a hug to let them know we love them and want them to get well soon.
Dear Parents and Carers
Our last week of Term Two was action packed. It began with St Agnes’ students and staff providing the music ministry for last Sunday night’s Mass. The choir and musicians backed up for our whole school narrated mass on Tuesday. Families attended information sessions as part of the registration process for Confirmation candidates and our school community joined together to raise funds and donate warm blankets and clothing for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Parent/teacher interviews were held to celebrate student learning and set goals for Term Three, whilst Clarence team members enjoyed their end of term treat for receiving the most Dojo points.
After a fabulous term of learning we wish all of our students, staff and families a relaxing and safe holiday. We look forward to students returning on Tuesday 13 July for the commencement of Term Three. Monday 12 July is a Staff Professional Learning/Pupil Free Day. There will be supervision available at school on this day for any families that are not able to organise alternative arrangements. To book your child in please go to schoolinterviews.com.au and enter the booking code w45xb. Thank you for your support and understanding.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our staff and families who came together for Parent/Teacher conferences during the week and to Bec Rissel for providing dinner for the staff. Working in partnership with our families is of highest importance to us at St Agnes’ and there was a wonderful vibe in the hall as we welcomed so many families through the door. Thank you to those who filled out our parent survey, we look forward to using this information to plan exciting opportunities to engage with you in the future.
Whole School Narrated Mass
We are grateful to Father Peter who facilitated our Narrated Mass on Tuesday. The Mass involved explanations of the four parts of the Mass; Introductory Rites, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of the Eucharist and the Concluding rites. We were grateful to have this special celebration accompanied by music and singing again. During this celebration we listened to the Gospel of Jesus calming the storm and how important it is that we remember Jesus is always with us even through the toughest of ‘storms’. Thanks to those family members who were able to join us.
Winter Woolies Wednesday

At St Agnes’ our goal is to provide students with a deeper understanding of poverty and injustice, so our young people are empowered to change the world. The warm clothing and blankets that were donated will be sent to St Vincent de Paul in order to support this year's focus on homelessness. Not only will we pass on the generously donated warm items, but also the $591 in gold coins raised through the Winter Woolies Wednesday Appeal. Thank you to everyone who made donations, these are greatly appreciated.
Kindergarten Pyjama Day
Kindergarten Pyjama day has long been a fun tradition for students. This year was no different. Kindergarten celebrated two terms of fun, learning and friendship.. along with the letter P!!
These photos show how much fun was had...
