In this Sunday’s Gospel to celebrate the 12th Sunday of Ordinary time, we learn about Jesus calming the storm for the disciples who were terrified in the boat. He was exhausted from the demands of his ministry and sees this time away from the crowds as an opportunity to rest. Jesus knows there was nothing to fear from this storm. The disciples were worried that Jesus did not care. We need to remember that Jesus is always in our ‘boat’ and that if we turn to him, no matter how big the ‘storm’ is in our lives, we will also find peace.
Dear Parents and Carers

A highlight this week was being able to welcome everyone on Wednesday for our athletics carnival. Not only was the weather perfect, we were treated to amazing signs of sportsmanship and team building from our students. We are grateful to the students who eagerly volunteered to sell Craft for Service items on the day. A particular mention goes to Archie Stafford in Year 3 who demonstrated extraordinary salesman skills in ensuring potential customers were aware of the goods on offer. These handmade gems are still available for sale at the front office with profits going to the Parish Flood Appeal. Thanks to all customers who supported this stall. Week 9 will finish off with the school Disco tonight. We are looking forward to checking out some cool dance moves. The traditional Kindergarten Pyjama day will be held next Thursday. Pyjama Day has been a long held favourite memory for students over many years.
On Sunday night at 5:00pm, St Agnes’ Primary School is providing the Music Ministry Mass. We look forward to the singing from the 21 student volunteers who have rehearsed with Mrs Stewart, Ms Bye and Mrs Burns to lead the singing. We welcome all families to come along and join us at this Youth Mass.
Winter Woolies Wednesday
On Wednesday Week 10 we will be holding a fundraiser “Winter Woolies Wednesday”. Students are asked to come to school in their winter woolies and bring a gold coin donation. This money will go towards buying items for the homeless. Throughout the week we are also asking for donations of clothing and blankets to be brought into the school hall. These will be sent to St Vincent de Paul in order to support those in need. The Ministry Team will sort and organise all items on Thursday 24 June.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Registration nights for the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Monday and Tuesday nights, 21 and 22 June. If you wish your child to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this year, please ensure you check your emails from Peta Rourke who coordinates our sacraments at a parish level. A note from the Parish was sent home last week, as well as an update on the school app today. This registration night is optional for families who attended last year. You are most welcome to attend again for a refresher course if you wish. Copies of ID and Baptism Certificates supplied last year can be used. All parents choosing to have their child participate in the sacrament will still be required to complete the online form.
Parent teacher interviews will take place next week for students at St Agnes’. This is a wonderful opportunity for families and teachers to discuss the learning that has occurred in Semester One of this year. Interviews will take place in the school hall in the afternoons and classrooms in the morning. A reminder to families that students in Years 3 to 6 are invited to share in the learning conversation with their parents. Interviews should have been booked through schoolinterviews.com.au using the code 9zkv7
In exciting news this week, our student’s Semester One Reports have been shared through a new mode of communication on the learning portal.
Students will still receive the paper copy of their report on Monday next week, but we are offering parents the chance to have early access as soon as you are registered for the portal. If you already have a child in one of our secondary schools, you will already have access to this system.
The Parent Portal is a secure web based application which contains information about the school and your child including student reports, NAPLAN results and class and teacher information.
An account needs to be created as a first step. For security reasons the username for this account must be your email address recorded at the school. Please be aware our system sometimes has issues with both hotmail or outlook email accounts. If you have any issues logging in, please contact the office during business hours. The process is as follows:
1. Log in to http://parent.lism.catholic.edu.au and create an account with your email address as the username. This link is also available on the home page of our School App - Parent Portal - Register.
2. An email will be sent to this address stating that a new account has been created and includes instructions to activate your account by following the embedded link.
3. If the email does not arrive check your spam folder.
4. You will be prompted to create a password and to confirm this password.
5. Select the blue log in button. Add the username and new password created in step 4.
6. Click on the Schoolworx icon to enter the Schoolworx parent portal.
7. Select your child.
8. Log out when done.
School Zone Safety
We remind all families of the school zone requirements in place around Boronia Street. For the safety of all, it is essential that between 8:00am-9:30am and 2:30pm-4:00pm all motorists obey the 40km speed signs. We remind all families that if you drop off at the front of the school, you MUST walk your child across the road. We have observed many children being sent to cross the road themselves. Please assist us by modelling safe practices for your child.
Please also be aware that the area in front of the school gates is a no stopping zone. If you drop children off in that area, you may be fined by the council or police. If you wish to use the kiss and drop service, you need to use the drive through drop off.
Athletics Cranival
Clarence are the 2021 Athletics House Champions!: Clarence were the overall winners of our athletics carnival on Wednesday. This was a great day for all of our school community. The children participated enthusiastically and a wonderful sense of school spirit and sportsmanship was on full display. It was great to see so many families cheering the athletes on, and we loved sharing the day with them.
Congratulations to our Age Champions for 2021.

Tackle Footy Thursday
A modified game of tackle Rugby League is held for students in Years 3 and 4 at Lunch 2 on Thursdays. Participation and enjoyment are the goal, and it is great to see both boys and girls of varying experience have a go. The game is closely supervised by Mr Brazel or Mr Evans who are both qualified Rugby League Coaches. All students who would like to participate need to bring in a completed permission slip available from the office. Mouthguards are compulsory. A similar activity will be made available to Years 5 and 6 next term.
If you are interested in helping out with any of our sporting pursuits, please contact craig.brazel@lism.catholic.edu.au. Parental involvement is a wonderful way to build school and family connections, and we encourage partnerships of this nature. We have a wonderful parent community that has a wealth of expertise that we could use to increase our student’s participation in physical activities. However, expertise is not a prerequisite for getting involved; an extra set of hands is always useful!
Do you have a junior sporting team that requires players? Are you part of a sporting club that is looking to increase numbers and promote your organisation? Do you have a child that wants to join a team or play a sport, but don’t know where to start? Do you have an adult team that requires players and want to put the word out to our parent community? If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then please send an email to craig.brazel@lism.catholic.edu.au explaining what you require.
Centred In Christ and With Love For One Another, St Agnes’ Learners are:
This week, we have been learning about the Zones of Regulations and how to use our own self calming strategies in dealing with stress and challenging situations. We can regulate our body’s needs and emotions using STOP OPT GO! As a school, we are committed to using the Zones of Regulation. It is important that we help each other in being able to recognise when we are in, or heading toward the different zones. We need to help each other learn to stop and regulate our emotions by using tools (calming strategies) to self regulate before acting - both inside and outside the classroom.
