OUR VISION
To be witnesses of Christ's love: In faith, culture, educational excellence and hope for the future.
OUR MISSION
St Agnes' as a Parish School community is committed to:
- Modelling the life and teachings of Jesus based on our Catholic Tradition
- The development of a culture founded on respect and nourished through the continued building of relationships
- Creating a welcoming, friendly and safe environment, where life and growth is recognised and celebrated
- Encouraging and challenging all to achieve their personal best by fostering positive attitudes to learning and catering for individual differences
- Preparing individuals with skills, knowledge and values to live successfully today and into the future
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to everyone in the St Agnes’ School community for your contribution towards the wonderful things achieved this term. We truly value working in partnership and wish you a happy and safe holiday, enjoying the blessings of the Easter season.
This week started with a Palm Sunday prayer led by Year 6 students in our school hall in recognition of the start of Holy Week. The Ministry Team recorded themselves telling the story of The Last Supper (linked below) and shared this with classes on Tuesday morning. Classes were invited to the hall to experience the Washing of the Feet, encouraging us to serve and help others on Wednesday. During this time, prayers written by each of the students were gathered and added to our St Agnes’ Prayer Garden in memory of Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. Today students learnt more about the Stations of the Cross and participated in this around our school hall.
Stations of the Cross
Thank you to Amelia Konstantas, Bianca Harrison, Henry Wootton, Dominic and Ella Ritchie, Aviana Simon, Georgie Carlton, Elle Harris, Braxton Henson, Talani Fuller, Abby Moloney and Alanna Anil who have offered to join in the Stations of the Cross for our Parish at St Agnes’ Church on Friday morning.
Thank you so much to all of the families who have contributed to the donations of “spreads” for the Parish Flood Appeal. Mrs Yarnold’s office was FULL of all of your donations. These have all been delivered to the Parish who are incredibly grateful for our support. Your generosity will make the lives of many in our community a little bit easier, in what has been so challenging for so many people.
Pupil Free Day/Staff Development Day
We remind all families that Monday 19 April is a pupil free day for staff development and that school will resume for all students on Tuesday 20 April.
Bookings for child minding on Monday 19 April opens today. To book a place for your child on this day, please go to schoolinterviews.com.au and enter the following code gjsb6
Thank You Brent
This week we farewell Brent Oxley who has been replacing Dave Gerke whilst he has been on leave. We are so grateful to Brent for all of the work he has done and we hope he enjoys a well deserved break in the holidays!
ANZAC Day
Due to COVID-19 students will not be marching for ANZAC DAY this year. This has been a strong tradition at St Agnes’ Primary. We are sure families will respect that it has been decided Veterans only will participate in the march.
Uniform Review
On Monday an update on school uniform changes was sent to all families. These changes have developed over the past 18 months after listening to input from families. Please feel free to share feedback about the changes.
SRC Easter Egg Raffle
There were a lot of excited students and staff members today waiting for the Easter egg raffle draw. Thanks to our generous families who provided prizes. The raffle raised $430. Winners will be announced next term
This term students who volunteered for Craft for Service have contributed to the raising of over $800. We are grateful to Aunty Michelle in the office who shares her crafty ideas to inspire us. This money will go to this term’s charity, Caritas.
Autism Awareness Day
Yesterday, staff were encouraged to wear blue to support Autism Awareness day which falls on Good Friday. The fourteenth annual World Autism Awareness Day is 2 April 2021.
Joined by the international community, hundreds of thousands of landmarks, buildings, homes and communities around the world come together on 2 April, Autism Awareness Day, to Light It Up Blue in recognition of people with autism and those who love and support them.
Autism-friendly events and educational activities take place all month, aiming to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism, foster worldwide support and inspire a kinder, more inclusive world.
Students watched different videos with their classes to increase understanding for those in our community who have Autism.
St Agnes' Golf Day
Organising for the St Agnes’ Golf Day on Sunday 16 May is well underway. Thank you to those family and community members who have decided to sponsor a team. Next term we'll be asking for volunteers to help make this the fun day it has always been. Don’t forget to register your team of 4 for this ambrose event by contacting Emerald Downs Golf Club.
Mothers Day
This year it has been decided the Parents and Friends will not be holding their Mother’s Day stall. A special gift from the children will be coordinated by our leadership team.
In preparation for their Sacrament of Penance, our Year 4 students have been learning about the Prodigal Son and how Jesus used this parable to teach about forgiveness. We were amazed when we visited Year 4 at the creativity of the students who were designing ways to retell the story. A POWTOON clip was made by Nathan Keane in 4NS for morning prayer and we look forward to sharing this next term.
- Thank God for our families who donated so generously to the flood appeal
- We appreciate our staff who go above and beyond to support students and families in need
- Thank you God for the family time we hope to enjoy during the school holidays.
School Cross Country
Due to the recent heavy wet weather, our school cross country carnival will now be held on Wednesday 21 April. The Zone Cross Country event will now be held at Bowraville on Wednesday 28 April.
Diocesan Winter Sports Trials
Congratulations to all of our Winter sports trialists who competed in hockey, rugby league, netball and football this week. The feedback we received from all selectors and managers is that our Aggies athletes gave their very best and displayed a high level of sportsmanship that our school is famous for.
Out of eight students trialling at this event, an incredible five have been selected to trial at Polding level. The following students will be making the next big step.
Rugby League Opens: Rafferty Gordon
Rugby League U11s: Lachlan Walters and Jack Franklin
Girls Football (Soccer): Maeve Pepper and Arliah Morris
PSSA Swimming and Diving
Congratulations to Bianca Harrison and Luke Stevens who competed in swimming and diving respectively at the PSSA event in Sydney during the week.
Bianca placed an admirable 29th in the state which is an exceptional accomplishment considering her disrupted preparation due to the floods.
Luke placed an incredible 4th in the U12/13 1 metre springboard which is an incredible result at this level. The school community are very proud of both of these athletes.
FORE!
Next term will see all grades participate in specialised golfing coaching. This is made possible by funding secured through the federal government Sporting Schools program. We look forward to unearthing the next golfing superstar!
Another term comes to an end. The cancellations and postponements that characterised last year threatened us again. But our athletes dealt with this with their customary resilience and stoicism. Here’s hoping that Term 2 proves to be a more ‘normal’ time!
Good luck to Spencer Galfassi-Barnes who is off to the national Futsal titles being held in the Hawkesbury this weekend. We look forward to hearing how his team goes!

Dear families
Thank you again to all our wonderful families that have taken the time to help and support others in our community again this week and to the families that donated as part of Tuesday’s Fundraiser. What a kind and generous school community we are a part of.
Ironman 2021 Volunteers
Would you like to volunteer for Ironman this year? St Agnes’ Primary School is manning a drink station and needs you on Sunday 2 May. No kids allowed! Ironman gave our school a very generous donation after we volunteered in 2019 and we would like to do this again.
There will not be many opportunities to fundraise this year and we have an extensive wish list. Let us know your preferred time-slot via email below or via our P+F Facebook page and we will contact you. Image credit: Ironman Australia.
We hope you have a wonderful and safe Easter and School Holidays.
