From the Leaders
In this Sunday’s Gospel from Mark, Jesus wants to know what people are saying about him. Then he asks them who they thought he was. He tried to tell them that if they wanted to be true followers they would have to take up their crosses and perhaps suffer. This is a tough challenge. We need faith in God and bear some crosses in our lives with courage and strength.

Kinder Helpers
This week Kindergarten welcomed a team of amazing parents and grandparents who supported us with our literacy groups. These amazing volunteers guided our students with a fun game of ‘tricky word’ bingo, and will be assisting our students with a variety of activities over coming visits. Our students were very excited to welcome our helpers and we look forward to continuing to work with them each week. Any other Kinder family members who would like to volunteer their time are welcome to contact the Kinder team.

Sports News
Netball NSW Gala Day - Years 3 and 4
Around 75 students from Years 3 and 4 participated in the NSW Netball Gala Day held at the Port Macquarie netball courts on Wednesday. The event was a non-competitive, fun-filled day where many students had their first experience playing netball. Despite the hot weather, the eight mixed-ability teams played five 30-minute games against both Catholic and non-Catholic schools from the Hastings area.
It was amazing to witness our players' confidence and skills grow throughout the day as they learned the rules of the game and how to navigate the netball court. The camaraderie among the Aggies players was truly inspiring, as they supported each other through both victories and losses. The attending staff couldn't have been prouder of the effort and sportsmanship displayed by our students.
We were also thrilled to have so many families come out to support and watch the children play. A special thanks to Mrs McEntyre, Miss Boller, Mrs Healey and Mrs Newell for attending and helping make the day enjoyable for everyone involved.
NRL Hastings All Schools Cup
This year, we will once again participate in the NRL Hastings All Schools Cup, with teams competing in two divisions: the Under 10s and Under 12s. Since this is a full-contact competition, all students are required to wear mouthguards and football boots and although headgear is optional, it is highly recommended for added safety.
Mr Brazel, Mr Evans and Mr Behan have been working with the players over the past few weeks, organising full-contact football games during lunchtimes to help them prepare. The day is open to students in Years 3 to 6, and participants must be familiar with the league rules before the competition. Event notes were sent to families today via Compass. We invite families to join us on the day and enjoy a day of rugby league with the students.
Year 6 Hastings Zone Gala Day
This week, the Year 6 Gala Day, which includes the Paul Wilson Cup and the Lismore Diocese Netball Challenge in Laurieton, were postponed due to wet weather. As of today, we have not yet received confirmation of plans for a back up date.
New School Representative Jerseys - Expression of Interest
St Agnes' is excited to announce a new initiative to purchase updated sports jerseys for our representative teams. Our families, School Community Forum and staff have all expressed a strong desire for new playing gear that not only highlights the dedication and skills of our athletes but also proudly represents St Agnes' Primary School at sporting events.
We are reaching out to businesses within our school community to seek support for this initiative. By partnering with us, your business can help us achieve our goal of providing top-quality sportswear for our students. This partnership would include funding the purchase of the jerseys, featuring your business logo on the jerseys, and collaborating on their design.
The sports kits in need of updating include jerseys for rugby union/rugby league, soccer shirts for both boys and girls and singlets for netball, basketball, touch football, and cross country/athletics.
If your business is interested in sponsoring a set of jerseys or if you would like more information, please contact Renee Shaw at the school office on 02 6583 7433. Your support will make a significant difference in enhancing our athletes' experience and showcasing our school spirit.

Positive Behaviour Support
This week we continue with our focus on being respectful and responsible when we clean up our environment. The aim of this lesson is to prevent new rubbish and clean up what rubbish and belongings that are left around everyday in our school environment. It has been pleasing to see the effort that our students have been putting into looking after their rubbish and belongings.
We also have some wonderful news that we have our first student of the year to reach 500 Dojos for always following the 4R’s each day. Congratulations, Alex Anosh!
Yesterday we learnt a little about R U OK Day. Whilst R U OK? Day on Thursday September 12 is our National Day of Action, we encourage you to Ask R U OK? Any Day of the year. Because a conversation could change a life. By having regular, meaningful conversations, you build trust and normalise talking about what’s really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you’re someone they can talk to.
